Photographs of Alsace

The name Alsace first appears in our history books from the early 7th century when the region became a duchy. It was divided into 2 separate areas in the mid 8th century roughly along the boundaries of today's departments. At its heart lies Strasbourg, the home of the European Parliament, the European Court of Human Rights, the European Youth Centre, the ARTE television channel, the Eurocorps and the Assembly of European Regions, placing Alsace firmly at the very heart of Europe. Because of its varied climatic differences, Alsace pocesses a number of diverse natural enviroments. Alsace has 2 regional national parks and 21 nature reserves.

Departments: Bas-Rhin (67) Haut-Rhin (68)
