Photographs of Aquitaine, France

At 41,308km², Aquitaine is geographically one of the largest regions in France with almost 300kms of coast line, most of it being sandy beaches, stretching from the Gironde estuary to the Spanish border. Steeped in history with connections to England, Aquitaine offers mountains to the south, flat sandy-soil forests to the west and undulating countryside of Dordogne and Lot-et-Garonne to the north each. Most of France's top quality wines are produced in Aquitaine from Médoc to St Emilion, and south to Sauterne.

Departments: Dordogne (24), Gironde (33), Landes (40), Lot-et-Garonne (47) and Pyrenees Atlantiques (64)
